Kyiv, October 21-22: UNDP Project “Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme” has presented information materials about Projectat Information Fair of international technical assistance programmes and civil society organisations. The members of parliament, their assistants and personnel of Apparatus of Verchovna Rada of Ukraine received information about 39 organisations working for sustaining democratic governance in Ukraine.
The goal of the event is to familiarize Ukrainian state authorities with the opportunities that international technical assistance programmes and civil society organizations have brought to Ukraine. The fifth Information Fair of these organisations was held by the Verchovna Rada of Ukraine and Parliamentary Development Program for Ukraine II. Previous information fairs were held in 1998, 2003, 2006 and 2008.
At the exhibition, 39 civil society and donor organisations working in Ukraine presented their experience, publications and negotiated opportunities of cooperation. The Information Fair was held in plenary session days and members of parliament, their assistants, personnel of Apparatus of Verchovna Rada of Ukraine and parliamentary journalists actively attended the venue.
UNDP Project “Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme” (UNDP/MGSDP) presented publications in a joint stand with United Nations Development Programme and United Nations Representative Office. The Project presented 10 publications on experience of community-based approach in 28 partner municipalities. UNDP/MGSDP was initiated in 2004 for promoting democratic governance aimed at improving the livelihoods of people in urban areas across Ukraine under the framework of public-private partnership.
The Programme cooperates with local communities of citizens, academia, small businesses and civil society organizations in 23 municipalities and 5 settlements of city type across Ukraine and other partners in private and public sectors. Together they apply various sustainable development mechanisms.
