Crimean municipalities establish partnership with Polish municipalities under UNDP support

Republic of Poland,  17-21 September: 14 representatives of UNDP partner municipalities visited municipalities of West Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland during the exchange visit organised by UNDP Project “Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme”. The visit was organised under  financial support of  the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). It is planned that Ukrainian and Polish municipalities will share best practices and expertise, cooperate in areas of education, culture, sports and youth policy and establish exchange programmes for youth and children. 
 
Earlier this year the official delegation of representatives of Polish municipalities visited Crimean municipalities. During 17-21 September, 14 representatives of Crimean municipalities have visited the municipalities of  West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in particular city of  Myślibórz, gmina Kobylanka, district Koszalin, city of Międzyzdroje and county Drawski.  The participants of the visit included local  partners of UNDP Projects “Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme” and “Crimea Integration and Development Programme”.
 
West Pomeranian Voivodeship is the fifth largest voivodeship of Poland. It  is considered one of the greenest regions of Poland, and one of the most attractive for tourists. West Pomeranian Voivodeship is divided into 21 counties (powiats): 3 city counties and 18 land counties. These are further divided into 114 gminas.
 
During the visit the delegation from Dzhankoy visited city of  Myślibórz and signed the Agreement on Intent of Cooperation. During next three months the cities will sign the long-term Agreement on Cooperation.  It is planned that Ukrainian and Polish municipalities will share best practices and expertise, cooperate in areas of education, culture, sports and youth policy and establish exchange programmes for youth and children.  Similar Agreements on Intent were signed between Saky municipality and district Koszalin, settlement Nyzhniogirskyi and gmina Kobylanka, village Uglovoe and city of Międzyzdroje,  Novopavlovsky village in  Krasnoperekopsk Rayon and county Drawski.
 
During the visit the guests participated in official meetings with Polish local authorities, learned the system of local self-governance in different tiers and daily operation of local self-governance bodies. Also, the guests visited local museums, historical and tourist sites and educational institutions.
