Within the framework of the joint project of the UNDP and Coca-Cola Ukraine and under support of BonAqua “Every Drop Matters” on September 9 to 10 Novograd-Volynskyi (Zhytomyr region) hosted the first training class for pupils on responsible attitude to water resources.
During the event pupils discovered important information about water resources of the planet and Ukraine, understood importance of water for human beings and harmonious development of mankind and learned that their friendly attitude to ecology can contribute into positive changes in the world, notably preserve water resources for future generations.
Classes for pupils will run in UNDP/ MGSDP partner cities that are involved in projects on restoration of natural springs within the framework of the EDM. The partner cities to host classes include: Ivano-Frankivsk, Dolyna, Novograd-Volynskyi, Rivne, Lviv, Tulchyn.
Classes are part of the project in cities, as rehabilitation of natural springs is performed by efforts of pupils. The winners will be granted a visit to Kiev and excursions to the UN House, Coca-Cola Ukraine factory and Kyiv Water Information Centre.
The EDM also envisages training classes for teachers on the basis of the training course “Lessons for Stable Development”. On the basis of the topic “Water” teachers learn interactive methodology to introduce the course to pupils.
Trainings for teachers are conducted by the organization “Teachers for Democracy and Partnership” in UNDP/MGSDP partner-cities, that stated interest in the course and agreed to present it in schools either as a mandatory or faculty course. So far the total of 11 training classes for 312 teachers have been conducted in the following cities: Ivano-Frankivsk, Rubizhne, Dolyna, Lviv, Novograd-Volynskyi, Kalynivka, Kirovske, Yevpatoria, Zuya, Mykolayiv, Rivne.
