6 and June 24, 2012, Kyiv: UNDP "Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme" presented the experience in the European Village, a platform for discussion and exchange of experience in addressing issues of sustainable development that takes place simultaneously with the Euro 2012.
The 14th European Football Championship takes place from June 8th until July 1st in Poland and in Ukraine. Increasingly such large and popular events become part of a global dialogue that do not just refer to sports itself but serve as a stage to demonstrate and showcase global development as they bring together people from all over Europe and/or the world.
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has suggested to use this event for creating a platform to discuss best practices and share experience in sustainable development.. Thus the support of the cities of Kyiv and the European Union Delegation in Kiev held an event entitled "European Village - Our Continent. Our Future. "Event takes place from June 2, 2012 to July 1, 2012 under the" Arch of Friendship of Peoples "in Kyiv.
UNDP "Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development" organized a workshop on waste management: " What I can do so that our cities are not swamped in garbage." Master class was held held on June 6 in the framework of the thematic day "Save the planet." Olena Zarichna, coach of the "Lessons for Sustainable Development" conducted a waste audit of the households of 20 participants of the master class.
On June 24, the theme day "Urban Visions — Towards Cities for Humans. " UNDP / MGSDP presented infographic banner that summarizes 8 years of experience on supporting community projects in 16 partner municipalities.
The Project also presented an exhibition of children drawings competition "Sustainable Development through the eyes of children." This contest was founded in Ivano-Frankivsk in 2006-2007 under support of UNDP/MGSDP and has become an annual event. In 2011 a competition was held under the "Community participation in local government through the creation of condominiums and social partnership", which won the All-Ukrainian competition of projects and programs of local government.
