December 10, Lviv: A social video advertisement was presented in Lviv at the meeting of the National Forum of Partner (NFPM). The video was created by UNDP Project "Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development programme" (UNDP / MGSDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Municipal Economy of Ukraine. The main purpose of the video is to make the residents of apartment houses realize that they are the owners of the houses and must take care of their houses.
Available housing stock of multi-apartment houses in Ukraine today is neglected.
The main purpose of the video is to make the residents of apartment houses realize that the entrance and corridor of the house is their property, not just their apartment. According to the Law, owners of apartments in a two-or multi-apartment house own as joint property common areas, basic building structure, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other equipment outside or inside the apartment serving more than one apartment and facilities designed to serve the needs of all apartment owners and owners of non-residential premises, which are located in residential house. Also, according to the Civil Code of Ukraine "The owner is obliged to maintain property that belongs to Him/Her, unless otherwise stated by a contract or by Law."
The video can be used for awareness campaigns on establishing condominiums and reform of housing and municipal economy.
Vira Radchenko, Deputy Head of Department of Housing Policy, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Municipal Economy of Ukraine. Ms. Radchenko said that the Ministry fully supports the distribution of the video to inform the public on the reform of housing and municipal economy.
"We want people to understand that establishment of the condominiums - is not a panacea for all ills, but it is a big step forward," said Vira Radchenko.
